Meaningful participation involves tenants taking part in and influencing the way decisions are taken about housing issues. The 2001 Act states that tenants have a right to be consulted on any issues that have a significant impact on them. However, consulting with your tenants and customers can be difficult to do effectively.
One of our strengths at TPAS is our independent status. Tenants are more likely to discuss housing services with an independent organisation. This makes TPAS the ideal organisation to carry out tenant consultation exercises on behalf of landlords.
We have developed a strong reputation with landlords across the country for consulting thoroughly with tenants on a wide range of policies. As part of our approach, we will undertake door-knocking exercises to identify interested tenants, draft tenant newsletters and questionnaires, facilitate discussion sessions, and collate tenant views in a feedback report.
